Cathedral Live Stream

Parish

Streaming Unavailable

As you may be aware, the Live Stream has now been down since the 17th November.

We apologise for this inconvenience and confirm that we have been trying our hardest to get this sorted.

The cause of this is due to the following:

You may be aware that the old copper telephone and broadband lines are coming to their end of life and are being replaced by Fibre Broadband.  We were advised in July that the copper lines into the Cathedral were ceasing and therefore we had no alternative but to go ahead with the changeover.

However, parts of the cable trunking under the car park at the West End of the Cathedral had caved in, and also on the pavement on the Derby Road.  This added to the process of getting the fibre into the Cathedral, based on factors such as resource availability, traffic management requirements, permits, permissions, specialist equipment needs, third-party delays, and weather conditions.
Additionally, if traffic management is required, a date must be approved by the highway authority.  All of this is unfortunately out of our control.

We previously spoke with our Broadband supplier and asked that the copper lines are not turned off until the fibre lines were ready.  However, we assume, though not confirmed, that the copper wires have now ceased, hence why there is no WIFI coming into the Cathedral, and therefore no Live Stream.

We understand that many of our poorly, elderly and housebound parishioners will be disappointed that they cannot get onto the Live Stream, but please be assured that we are doing all we can to get these processes speeded up, so that we can get back online.
